About A Time To Laugh

A Time To Laugh is a weekly Christian cartoon by Australian cartoonist John Cook.

I draw a range of different cartoons, all published at Sev. These typically focus on things that occupy my thoughts: science fiction, cricket and my gorgeous, adorable daughter.

A Time To Laugh began in 2007 when I was asked by my church to draw a cartoon for our weekly bulletin. Every Thursday morning, our pastor emails me a copy of his sermon for that Sunday. Wendy and I read the sermon over our Thurday morning coffee break and brainstorm ideas. The deeper, more insightful ideas usually come from Wendy. The shallow gags mostly come from me.

Then Friday morning, I email back a cartoon - sometimes with a hint of cringing, wondering whether my irreverent tone will either get me excommunicated or struck by lightning.
